Menag: PTAI Memiliki Misi Mencetak Ulama yang Sarjana

Jakarta(Pinmas)–Perguruan Tinggi Agama Islam memiliki ciri yang membedakan dengan perguruan tinggi umum, yaitu misi untuk mencetak sarjana yang ulama dan ulama yang sarjana.
Perguruan Tinggi tak boleh berdiri sebagai menara gading. Sementara itu Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Institut Agama Islam Negeri (UAIN) dari segi status kini sejajar dengan perguruan tinggi lain, kata Menteri Agama Suryadharma Ali di Jakarta, Kamis (6/1).
Suryadharma Ali, pada kesempatan pelantikan rektor UIN, IAIN dan para kepala Kanwil Kementerian Agama di Jakarta, mengingatkan kedudukan UIN/IAIN sudah sejajar namun punya misi berbeda, yaitu mencetak sarjana yang ulama sekaligus ulama yang sarjana.
Sejak diberlakukan UU Sistem Pendidikan Nasional, perguruan tinggi Islam mendapat pengakuan sama. Tapi, perguruan tinggi Islam harus berupaya memelihara dan menghidupkan etos tradisi intelektualisme Islam di Indonesia yang dirintis para pendahulunya.
Kendati UIN mengembangkan fakultas dan program studi umum, Menag minta karakter pendidikan tinggi keagamaan harus tetap menonjol. “Karakter itu menyangkut antara lain mulai dari orientasi atau tujuan, kurikulum, kultur yang seharusnya dikembangkan,” ujarnya.
“Karena itu, pengembangan sains dan humaniora di lingkungan UIN/IAIN harus tetap berada dalam bingkai semangat keislaman yang kokoh,” harap Suryadharma Ali.
Di sisi lain, Menag mengingatkan masalah liberalisme pemikiran keagamaan yang disinyalir belakangan ini tumbuh dan berkembang di lingkungan perguruan tinggi agama Islam yang menimbulkan kerisauan umat, harus menjadi perhatian serius para rektor UIN/IAIN.
Dengan tidak mengurangi makna kebebasan akademik, menurut Menag, liberalisme pemikiran keagamaan tidak boleh dibiarkan merusak tatanan keagamaan dan keilmuan Islam di tanah air, termasuk merusak citra perguruan tinggi agama Islam.
Adapun 8 rektor UIN/IAIN dan Kakaneil yang dilantik Menag adalah Prof. Dr. H. Komaruddin Hidayat sebagai rektor UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta untuk masa jabatan 2010-2014. Sebelumnya Komaruddin menjabat rektor untuk masa jabatan 2006-2010.
Prof.Dr.H. Muhammadiyah Amin sebagai rektor IAIN Sultan Amai Gorontalo masa jabatan 2010-2014. Ia sebelumnya menjabat perguruan yang sama pada masa jabatan 2006-2010.
Mengangkat Dr.H.Noh. Mukri M.Ag sebagai rektor IAIN Raden Intan untuk masa jabatan 2010-2014. Selanjutnya mengangkat Prof Dr. H.Maksum MA diangkat sebagai rektor IAIN Sjech Nurjati Cirebon masa jabatan 2010-2014.
Mengangkat Dr.H.Nashuddin sebagai rektor IAIN Mataram masa jabatan 2010-2014. Mengangkat Prof.Dr.H.Musa Asyarie sebagaui rektor UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta untuk masa jabatan 2010-2014.
Prof.Dr.H.A Qadir Gassing dilantik sebagai rektor UIN Alaudin Makassar untuk masa jabatan 2010-2014.Dr.H.Syibli Syarjaya dilantik sebagai rektor IAIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin, Banten untuk masa jabatan 2010-2014.
Menag juga melantik dan mengambil sumpah Dr.H.Abd.Kadir Ahmad sebagai Kakanwil Kemenag Gorontalo sebelumnya ybs Kepala Balai Penelitian dan Pengembangan Agama Makassar. Drs.H.Hamka sebagai Kakanwil Kemenag Sulsel, sebelumnya Kabag Tata Usaha Kanwil Kemenag Sulsel.(es/ts)
