Today, May 2nd, 2011, Indonesia celebrates National Education Day or abbreviated as HARDIKNAS (Hari Pendidikan Nasional). It was initiated by the Indonesian education hero Ki Hajar Dewantara, the founder of the Taman Siswa education system. His educational philosophy Tut Wuri Handayani means that we can help others learn by coaching and mentoring.
From the spirit given above I hope the Indonesian scholars who are united in a forum under ISPI organization strenghten commitment to place the education as the utmost role for building nation civilization and character. Education becomes the most priority as the source of the success in developing the nation.
ISPI (Ikatan Sarjana Pendidikan Indonesia) which was established on May, 17th 1960, as a profession organization has been trying hard to be consistent and commit in doing its agenda that is contributing profesional menpower and thoughts to the national education development by doing some efforts such as:
1. Holding scientific meeting and reseach on science, art, culture and technology
2. Holding cooperation with government and private institution in and abroad
3. Publishing media of communication, art, culture, and education technology
4. Protecting the members’ professional necessity and developing education profession
5. Protecting society necessity from harmed education practice
In celebrating Indonesia National Education Day 2011, lets keep our spirit to provide mutual services in education to face this global era so our nation can survive in this modern and competitive life.
